Hello,
I have a job posting for a position very close to the school.
We are also willing to collaborate with the school for clinicals as we have plenty of clients who could benefit from sports massage, and other modalities the students may be learning.
For now, here is the job positing:
Job Posting: Licensed Massage Therapist (Independent Contractor) – RAMP / AWE Wellness
Location: 7232 Columbia Pike, Annandale, VA 22003
RAMP / AWE Wellness is seeking a passionate, skilled, and motivated Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) to join our collaborative team of exercise kinesiologists and other wellness professionals. This is an independent contractor (1099-NEC) position designed for therapists who want to grow their own clientele while benefiting from an integrated, supportive environment.
Position Overview
As an LMT with us, you’ll work alongside kinesiologists, physical therapists, chiropractors, and other specialists to provide adaptive, client-focused massage therapy services. Our client base ranges from professional athletes (including collaboration with D.C. United) to individuals recovering from injury or managing chronic conditions.
This opportunity is ideal for a self-driven therapist who thrives in a sports and rehab-oriented setting and is eager to provide targeted, effective treatments that go beyond typical full-body relaxation massage.
Key Responsibilities
Booking and managing your own massage appointments
Collecting Payment using the Clover Register for your appointments
Performing focused, adaptive massage therapy sessions
Maintaining accurate, HIPAA-compliant client notes
Collaborating with allied health professionals
Cleaning and maintaining massage equipment and shared treatment room
Laundering your massage sheets (washer/dryer on site)
Purchasing your own preferred oils/lotions (some provided)
Optional participation in self- and group-marketing events
Assessing client posture and physical condition
Responding appropriately to client needs and cues during sessions
What We Offer
A fully equipped, shared massage room (rarely booked by the other therapist)
Massage table, portable hot stone unit, T-Bars, Thumb-saver, cupping and Graston tools, emergency back up lotions/oils
Washer/dryer on site for sheets
Front desk support and payment system
Access to marketing materials and community events
Opportunity to build a clientele with the support of an experienced CNMT/LMT mentor (active since 2014)
Requirements
Graduation from an accredited massage therapy program
Current massage therapy license in Virginia
Professional liability insurance (ABMP or AMTA)
Strong foundation in anatomy, kinesiology, and rehabilitative massage
Commitment to professionalism and client-centered care
Willingness to operate as a self-employed contractor (1099-NEC status)
Preferred (but not required)
Existing or intent to form an LLC for tax and liability purposes
Experience in sports massage, myofascial techniques, or injury rehab
Familiarity with knee and ankle injury support
Interest in working with athletes and active populations
Desire to grow and learn — new grads welcome with mentorship provided!
Compensation
Independent contractor model (1099-NEC)
Set your own hours
Set your own rates within a recommended range
Revenue share: 80/20 or 60/40 split depending on if a client is referred to you by AWE or RAMP, or if you are bringing in your own clients
You may establish your own discounts and deals as you see fit
Typically, I charge about 90 dollars per 60 minutes of hands on and 10 minute interview session and at minimum I would get around 45 dollars per hour- however I make sure as an independent contractor to set aside another 20 percent of that for future taxes/business investment. You could set your own prices to reflect your level of training/discuss pricing during a brief meeting with us.
Potential support with basic continuing education (CEUs) for the right candidate
If you’re passionate about providing meaningful, results-driven bodywork and are looking for a team that values collaboration, education, and professionalism, we’d love to hear from you.
To apply or learn more, text or call Stephanie Guffey, LMT, CNMT at 202-838-7140 for a no-strings-attached tour of the space and introduction to our team as well as ask us any questions you may have.
