YogAnatomy! Self-Care for the Neck, Shoulders, and Spine Instructor Molly Farwell, LMT, RYT-200
This three-hour workshop is for massage therapists, yogis, and lovers of embodied practice to focus attention and learn (or re-learn) anatomy of the upper body. The class includes meditation, lecture, and yoga practice (approx. 1 hour) for an intensive focus on the well-being of the neck, shoulders, and spine. Participants will leave feeling relaxed, restored, and embodied, with a toolbox of techniques for maintaining mobility and ease in the upper body. All participant will benefit from improved proprioception and understanding of the body. Increased awareness of muscle anatomy, function, and proprioception will benefit therapists and yoga teachers alike in recognizing and working with tension patterns in the body.
Prerequisites: Attendees should be able to sit on the floor, rise to standing from the floor, and sustain moderate activity for approximately 1 hour. An ongoing yoga and/or meditation practice is helpful, but not required.
What you need: A comfortable place to do your yoga where you can hear and see the online class. Find a clear space on the floor with a yoga mat or blanket, if available. We may use a blanket, strap, block, or other props - so grab whatever you have available. To view the class, you will need a computer or smart device, and you will need to download the ZOOM application in advance. For audio-only access, you can use any telephone.
