Connect with PMTI in the Community

PMTI champions a passion for community caregiving by creating an environment that attracts and supports people who want to make a difference in the world through their use of massage therapy. The school’s community work focuses on advocating the skillful use of massage therapy to enhance health and well-being. Since 1976, PMTI has been reaching out to the community through its clinic and volunteer services throughout the greater D.C. region.

Here’s where you’ll find us:

Clinic and Fieldwork Programs

Our students offer massage to:

  • Seniors

  • Professional caregivers and health care practitioners

  • HIV/AIDS patients

  • Cancer patients

  • Local law enforcement officials

  • City and county employees

  • Corporate and Government Agency Venues in the Greater D.C. area.

Student and Graduate Projects

In addition to the connections that the school has developed, students themselves have created a wealth of community-oriented fieldwork projects. Long after graduation, many students continue to serve populations and communities in critical need.

Study Abroad

Trips to Peru in support of The Healing House of Cusco afforded a mixed group of instructors, alumni, and students the incredible opportunity to serve on an international level. Participants had the chance to provide massage, teach, and offer other services such as carpentry skills to the Healing House.

Special Events

PMTI periodically provides seated massage services for events that support and serve community causes, such as the DC AIDS Ride, George Washington University and Bread for the City.

Come change the world with us…
