About the event

Zero Balancing I is the first half of the Core Zero Balancing program and the first course of the Core Zero Balancing curriculum. ZB I introduces you to the technique, theory, touch skills and history of the art and science of Zero Balancing. In these hands-on workshops, you will learn how to perform Zero Balancing sessions and experience what it feels like to receive a Zero Balancing session.

Developed by Fritz Frederick Smith, MD in the early 1970s, Zero Balancing is a powerful body-mind therapy that uses skilled touch to address the relationships between energy and structures within the body. Following a protocol that typically lasts 30 – 45 minutes, the practitioner utilizes finger pressure and gentle traction on the bones and joints to create fulcrums, or points of balance, around which the body can relax and reorganize.

Some bodywork, such as massage, Rolfing and chiropractic, focuses primarily on improving the function of the physical body. Other modalities, such as acupuncture, Reiki and Polarity Therapy, work to enhance body energy. A Zero Balancing practitioner consciously and actively engages BOTH body energy and body structure simultaneously – bringing them into balance within themselves and with one another. The result is greater than the sum of the parts, enabling the person on the table to feel engaged on the levels of body, mind and spirit. Often, with Zero Balancing, both energy and physical function improve dramatically.

About the intructor:

Jim McCormick, L. AC., began his Zero Balancing training in 1974 with ZB’s founder, Dr. Fritz Smith, and became the first teacher of ZB after Dr. Smith, in 1979. He is currently on the Faculty of the ZBHA and co-president of Cambridge Health Associates, a holistic health center in Mass., where he practices Zero Balancing and Traditional Acupuncture. Jim delivers clear presentations and demonstrations of Zero Balancing evaluations and techniques, with warmth and joy.

What You Will Learn:

• A basic treatment protocol that addresses the whole body in about 30 minutes

• Theory and principles of ZB

• To distinguish body energy and body structure through touch

• The skill of using energy as a working tool

• The energetic anatomy of the skeleton
